Jamie Daniels is handling our dog Danny, Just Wait N’See, on the American Field All-Age circuit. He has the ability to train and handle a big running dog to show its true potential. Jamie began his field trial career scouting for Fred Dileo. This exposed him to working with some of the top dogs in the country including Just Wait, Funseekers Rebel, Double Rebel Sonny, Phantom’s Last Dime, just to name a few.

Jamie is based out of Caney Creek Plantation in Albany, GA. Jamie’s summer camp is located outside Trail City, SD in Fred Dileo’s camp.

  Ben Garcia  —  www.hideawaykennels.com

Ben Garcia has been the trainer for most of our dogs for many years. His training has provided the dogs with a solid foundation to be able to progress into first class bird dogs; whether into AKC Open events with Ben handling, Amateur events with either Jack or Tracy handling, or sent off with other handlers to compete in American Field events. Visit Ben’s website for more information on Hideaway Kennels and Ben Garcia.

Fred Dileo

(Excerpt from John Hicks tribute) Strong-willed and durable Rebel dogs suited his nature though he communicated with any breed. He possessed tremendous foresight with a clear plan for his next move and approached his life with that same precision and toughness. . He never went to a contest when he didn’t fully expect to win. Still, to excel against the degree of competition he faced is remarkable. To have been given the opportunity to witness his amazing performance is truly fortunate. What a ride!!

Fred set the bar high and his records in the field are documented. Chicoan Hummer (Stick), Double Rebel Buck, Sonny, Legacy (Reb), Pearl, Spike, Mick , Sis, Just Wait (Patch), Funseeker’s Gem, Million Dollar Man, Wild River (O), Phantom’s Last Dime , and 2007 NATIONAL CHAMPION Funseeker’s Rebel (Ty). These exceptional dogs and countless others are direct results of Fred’s efforts, vision and heart. There is no quit in those champions; there was absolutely no retreat or surrender in Fred Dileo.

Fred was extreme and to ride his blazing horses would help you realize a higher power. He absolutely believed in God and especially enjoyed the splendor of the Dakotas where you can test the limits of speed and endurance. I envision a man sitting tall in the saddle with his right hand held high floating across the prairie on a horse like Will He whose stumble-proof hooves never falter. We can honor Fred’s memory by staying up front, being honest on our game and ever mindful of the clock.

On August 24,1961 Fred Dileo entered this world undoubtedly with a strong voice.

November 2007 brought Fred his 49th all-age championship and he headed home to the family he loved. On November 13th, 2007 God must have needed an archangel to finish a dog or marshal the course.

Fred Dileo …Son….Brother….Best Friend….Husband…Father….Titan…..left a hole in the world when he headed to the ultimate call back; I hope to qualify one day. Keeping track of those shooting stars in his kennel would be a lot easier with a set of wings.

More than a great dog trainer, Fred was a master at the BBQ. Here he is pictured doing his magic while Kim, one of the land owners looks on, at the 2005 All-American Prairie Championship.
